Robert "Rock" Robinson
Bio: Robert "Rock" Robinson was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and founded the West Penn Minority Jr. Golf Association, Inc (WPMJGA) in 1995. Rock is the current President/CEO responsible for implementation of the many programs identified by the strong leadership of the WPMJGA Board of Directors. All programs are geared towards empowering our young to seek a college education, become good citizens and enhancing the communities they come from. Rock has been teaching golf since 1992 and received his United States Golf Teaching Federation (USGTF) certification in June 2000. "Coach Rock", as he is affectionately known by the young men and women who pass through the WPMJGA program is known for his tough yet nurturing attitude towards all of the participants. Rock has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, married, a devoted father and has worked for Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. for almost 30 years while at the same time directing/leading WPMJGA since its inception. As a result of Rock's commitment and community efforts, he was awarded a "Jefferson Award" in 2005 which is a national program started by Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis and two State Senators to recognize those individuals that commit to community or public service. Not only was Rock selected locally amongst the many worthy candidates in the South Western Pennsylvania, but he was also selected to represent the Pittsburgh region in a gala affair in Washington DC.
